Gas Turbine Engine Stator

Legacy jet engine components are becoming increasingly difficult to source for operators that still run these older engines. Gas turbine engines are commonly made up of complex sheet metal components that are often easily damaged and difficult to source as the original manufacture no longer supports the product.

The first stage stator blades are often most damaged due to their location in the engine and supplies of replacement components have been exhausted. SCAN HD were able to use their high accuracy laser scanning equipment to scan one of the last original components and develop a manufacturing process to reproduce the part.

The scan was used to build up a solid CAD model which was utilised during SCAN HD’s close work with the manufacturer to develop manufacturing processes and tooling to reproduce the component. Utilising SCAN HD’s long experience in manufacturing engineering we were able to deliver a successful final outcome.
